Apple is seemingly close to launching its first-ever augmented reality (AR) device. Rumors suggest its name to be “Apple Glasses.” A well-known Apple Analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo, has shared this information. Kuo reported that Apple has plans to release the augmented reality device this year. However, he did not mention AR Glasses in his note.
Apple has been working on augmented reality glasses for since long. Tim Cook, the Apple CEO, takes AR technology as something that combines a real world view with computer-generated elements. It is certainly going to be the next big introduction in tech. Now, the question is when the tech giant will be ready with its debut AR glasses.
The Information says Apple would be launching its first augmented reality headset in 2020, followed by a pair of AR glasses in 2023. It is said that the N301 headset of Apple is a slim version of the Oculus Quest, a virtual reality headset. As per rumors, it has both AR and VR capabilities. Like high-end sunglasses, a pair of AR glasses is complicated, though it is a future-ready headset.
Meanwhile, Bloomberg says, these augmented reality glasses will run “ROS,” the latest operating system specifically designed for the headset. It also expects the AR/VR headset to struggle with gaming, watching videos, and virtual meetings. Apple’s headsets will be using a “new 3D sensor system,” an advanced version of the FaceID used in the existing iPhones and iPads.
For your wonder, know that many tech insiders and analysts believe the augmented reality (AR) glasses will replace smartphones within the new era. Apple and many other tech giants are on a secret mission and working on augmented reality glasses projects. The first-generation Apple Glasses will be dependent on the iPhone for their processing. However, it is yet vague if the first AR headset will be launched this year or Apple will release these next year.
Even 2020 was tough due to the prevailed pandemic; it was hectic for Apple. The year 2021 will also make no difference, or very least. According to Kuo, Apple intends to roll out multiple products this year, and it will be including the new AirPods, AirTags, more Apple Silicon Macs, new iPad Pro and MacBooks with mini-LED displays. California-based tech giant Cupertino has released the iPhone 12 series, a smaller HomePod mini, and a new iPad Air in the recent past.
