iOS 14.5, the critical software update for the iPhone, is now available to download. There are many new features in this update. It enables you to unlock your iPhone using your Apple Watch when your face is covered with a mask. Moreover, Siri voice assistant no long defaults to a female voice when you set up your device. It also includes support for the latest game controllers, 5G support for dual-SIM devices, new emoji characters, AirPlay support for Fitness+, an overhauled Podcasts app, and much more. An interesting thing is the learning ability of Siri to play music from Spotify and other services. But, a new privacy change is the main feature of iOS 14.5. With iOS 14.5, Apple is offering you more control over apps that want to track for advertisements. However, the new change isn’t equally good for companies like Facebook, the social media giant, which is a little concerned about the privacy change. The update also includes support for the recently released AirTags Bluetooth tracker.
iPadOS 14.5 is receiving all of the new features arriving on iOS 14.5. but some particulars are meant for iPadOS, the operating system that powers the iPad. One of these is iPad emoji support, a feature that allows you to search for a specific emoji in iPadOS 14.5. the others include a new smart folio security option that will mute the built-in microphone whenever smart folio is shut, Scribble language support, and more. Also, on the iPad, the loading screen with the Apple logo now appears in the horizontal position, depending on the tablet position.
macOS Big Sur 11.3
Then comes macOS 11.3 which is an elusive update. The Mac software update brings optimizations for using iOS apps on M1 apps, extra customization options for Safari, support for the Xbox Series X controllers and PS5 to be used with macOS games, and more. Also, macOS Big Sur is now working with AirTags, which will be available on sale by April 30. It brings a new set of emojis, a redesigned Apple News+ tap with a dedicated “For You” selection, and the Apple Music app a latest autoplay option.
watchOS 7.4, tvOS 14.5
Meanwhile, watchOS 7.4 adds a new “Unlock with Apple Watch” feature allowing the use of a watch to unlock your iPhone while wearing a mask, an option to choose a Bluetooth device type in settings to correctly notify audio notifications, and AirPlay 2 support for Fitness+ subscription service.
Apple also rolled out tvOS 14.5 and HomePod update 14.5. tvOS 14.5 features a new color balance. There is a new setting in tvOS 14.5 allowing you to efficiently calibrate your TV’s color through your iPhone. While, for the HomePod, the new update brings bug fixes and stability improvements.
