The search giant Google has continuously enhanced its search engine abilities in recent years, and Google Lens has been one of the most exemplary instances of that. The visual search tool assists users on mobile devices search for everything that they are not capable of determining practically across the network. A recent report suggested that this capability could not remain restricted to mobile phones.
According to a user mentioned in a 9to5google report, Desktop Google Chrome on its Google Search has been reportedly featuring the Google Lens option. The option comprises the similar camera icon that we are familiar with watching on smartphones for Google Lens. However, the icon can be watched located right alongside the microphone icon on the search bar indicated to activate a voice search on the desktop.
This is an essential suggestion of what the search giant intends to execute with its Google Lens ability. The company’s recent photo search technology allows users to search whatever they watch, utilizing the camera of their smartphone or an existing image.
Apart from that, this is what the report is further emphasizes. According to the report, when a user will tap on the latest camera icon on the search bar requests users if they would have liked to “Search any photo with Google Lens.” Afterward, users will drag and drop any picture on their computer onto the search bar, or the users can select it using the default file browser.
However, when it comes to the process, it is pretty much the same as we utilize at the time of doing a photo search via the existing Google Search. But, both the features are not the same. Even though the image search of Google just attempts to locate identical pictures, Lens, in reality, attempts to determine things in a photo. Google Lens further has the ability to spot locations, subjects, texts, or people in a picture. Moreover, it even has the ability to copy this text from inside the photo and display it in an editor.
For the time being, we can’t say anything about how effective the Google Lens is going to be on desktops because the report is just an indication of its existence until now. Apparently, the feature is in the testing phase. The user discovered it on Chrome’s Incognito Mode of the Chrome and disclosed that any search on Lens gets out the leads to a familiar format – photo on the left, Knowledge Panels on the top-right, and a grid of “Visual matches.”
Moreover, the broader launch of the feature is still expected, and we are likely to watch it soon as Google enhances the protuberance of Lens yet more.
