The most awaited iPhone 12 lineup launched early this week, consisting of the iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Mini, the iPhone 12 Pro, and the iPhone 12 Pro Max. The new device introduced new features that weren’t seen in Apple’s previous smartphones. The special night mode in front camera, better low-light photography, and a faster processor are observed as new features.
Besides these features, the company made a significant change by removing Earpods and the charger from the iPhone 12 box.
The significant change is due to environmental concern. Apple aims 100% carbon neutral environment by 2030. By doing so, the company can cut the packaging up to 70% and ship more phones simultaneously, which would lower the shipping-related effluences as a result.
Moreover, Apple has explained in detail about the change. As stated by Apple’s VP of iPhone marketing, many iPhone customers have these accessories from their former iPhones already. It would be useful for the company to remove the charger and Earpods from the iPhone 12 box.
According to Kaiann Drance, the VP of iPhone marketing,
“People already have a charger and earpods. It’s sitting around in their house. They have multiple ones. And so, it was kind of not the right thing to do in terms of the larger environmental goals and the larger benefits to the environment”.
The tech giant shipping the USB Type-C to lightning cable with the device instead of the charger in the iPhone 12 box. The cable will work with any standard USB Type-C adapter. Moreover, you can get a wireless charging mat as an alternate and displace the wired charger.
