All three Facebook-owned apps such as Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp were down for thousands of users all over the world the previous night for the second time in less than a month. However, the company has restored the services on all three platforms soon. Plenty of users took Twitter for complaining about this outage.
As per a report issued by Reuters, 101,000 users reported this problem on Instagram, more than 112,000 users were informed about problems on the Facebook website, and 526 WhatsApp users starting from 6 PM EST.
Afterward, the company recognized the problem and informed that the services were back up. Moreover, the company told the reason for this outrage on Twitter.
Here is the reason why WhatsApp, Instagram, and Facebook were down?
According to Facebook’s post on Twitter in which the company has described the reason, a configuration change was the reason behind the services being unavailable to some users.
However, from that time the problem has been examined and sorted out. The breakdown affected Facebook users followed by WhatsApp and Instagram users and users were greeted with the message on Facebook and Instagram
“We’re sorry, but something went wrong. Please try again.”
Moreover, the users were unable to load the timelines of these platforms.
However, we don’t have any exact details about how many users were impacted by the problem last evening.
Nevertheless, it was a considerable amount all over the world. Websites including Downdetector track this breakdown by collecting status reports from several sources such as error reports submitted by users.
A lot of users do not informed as well as do not submit any complaint about the error and websites such as Downdetector do not consider those users. Therefore there are chances that a bunch of users impacted is much higher than what was reported.
This is the second time Facebook along with its all three platform’s services has experienced an outage in less than a month. A similar breakdown happed on March 19 when all the platforms including WhatsApp, Instagram, and Facebook went down for more than an hour.
