After Samsung Galaxy Fold unveiled a few days back, it’s time for Huawei to show off its first foldable smartphone with 5G support. Huawei unveiled Huawei Mate X foldable phone at MWC Barcelona 2019 having a curved OLED display which is usable in three ways. It’s powered by Huawei’s own latest processor Kirin 980 with the support of 5G.
Samsung Galaxy Fold sees its Infinity Flex display fold on the inside of the device and revealing a secondary display on the outside. However, Huawei Mate X has a large display which folds on the outside. Its display can be folded like Royole FlexPai, like a book, therefore, it’s offering display on the front and back.
When Mate X is in the unfolded condition, it offers a large screen of the 8-inch display with the resolution of 2480×2200. A hinge is used to fold the phone which is called a new Falcon Wing design. Moreover, when it is folded it offers 6.6 and 6.38 inches display with an aspect ratio of 19.5:9 on both sides.
Huawei says that no matter how you use the phone, you get a notch-less and bezel-less display with full view experience. When it’s in the unfolded condition the Mate X offers 5.7mm thickness which jumps up to 11mm when it is folded, the fingerprint sensor is embedded within the power button.
Huawei Mate X‘s 8 inches large display offers an efficient multitasking experience and allows to see the apps in the large-screen format. Furthermore, it offers Leica-branded cameras which are placed at the back side of the hinge, this placement of cameras allows you to capture better selfies. This design also allows the subject to view portrait shots being taken from a two-way display.
Mate X is powered by Huawei’s own Kirin 980 processor which is paired with a balong 5000 router. It is backed by a 4500mAh battery which is split into two to allow the device to bend. The company claims that it’s the world’s first fastest 5G phone.
Moreover, the company has also introduced new innovation of charging 55W fast charging technology at MWC Barcelona which can charge it up to 85% in just 30 minutes. Great numbers when there is 4500mAh battery capacity.
This Huawei Mate X folding phone comes with 8GB of RAM and 512GB of storage and priced EUR 2,299. It is expensive than Samsung Galaxy Fold and will be available in the mid-2019.
