Electrochromic Glass in Concept One
Apart from leather, there is a glass section in the middle; it’s not a standard glass that we get in smartphones. Its world’s thinnest Electrochromic Glass, which we have seen in Boeing airplane that can change its colors. You can make it dark as well as transparent, depending on the needs.
The same glass is used in McLaren’s 720s Spider Super Car’s sunroof. Special engineering is done by the company to make use of this 0.35mm technical electrochromic glass in a smartphone. It can change color in just 0.7s.
It’s really a fantastic concept to bring in the smartphone industry as we see companies are bringing up smartphones with 4 to 5 cameras now. By using this smart glass, all those can be hidden under glass to look sleeker. In regular use, you won’t see cameras and flash at the back, but as you activate the camera, the section will turn transparent to take photos.
This is all possible because of electrochromic glass; the camera layout won’t disturb you.
There is an ND8 filter in-camera; this is built to reduce the brightness while taking shots. It’s like your camera is using sunglasses to avoid light.
This OnePlus concept one is just a concept phone at CES 2020, for now, that is a fantastic development in the smartphone industry. Using electrochromic glass would be a game-changing technology in enhancing the designs of smartphones.
