Most gamers welcomed the move to limit RTX 3060’s Ethereum mining performance while Nvidia states that it wouldn’t be crippling any latest cards’ efficiency on the market. It never mentioned anything about forthcoming models.
It is reported that the impending RTX 3080 Ti and RTX 3070 Ti of Nvidia will feature Ethereum mining limiter. The next drivers for the card can detect “specific attributes of the Ethereum cryptocurrency mining algorithm, limit the hash rate, or cryptocurrency mining efficiency, by around 50 per cent”, Nvidia said.
Nvidia said it is not limiting GPUs’ performance already sold, in response to the question that unhackable limiter would affect other Ampere-based cards running the same driver.
It will have 12G 19Gbps VRAM and an ETH mining nerf too.

Kopite7kimi, a reliable leaker, reported that the same Ethereum mining limiter would also be commenced to the Nvidia’s next cards. Notably, he refers to the much-awaited RTX 3080 Ti showing “12G 19Gbps VRAM and an ETH mining nerf” features.
Ae per Videocardz‘ report, Nvidia has informed AIB associators about RTX 3080 Ti featuring mining limiter. Suppose this is the path Nvidia takes. And I wish any RTX 3070 Ti to be nerfed to scale down Ethereum hash rates. It might become standard practice for the latest RTX devices as Nvidia has its own mining-specific CMP cards.
The RTX 3080 Ti was predicted to feature 20GB GDDR6X 320-bit memory. Now it is expected to come with 12GB GDDR6X 384-bit. Rumours also suggested that RTX 3080 Ti will feature GA102 GPU with 10,240 CUDA cores. It could be released in April, but the exact launch date is still unclear.
Buying a high-quality card forming would be “very foolish”, as mentioned in the Jon Peddie Research report.
