The music streaming company Spotify has slammed Apple’s announcement of an Apple’s One subscription bundle. Spotify alleged that Apple was misusing a dominant position to shove its services. It must be noted that TV+, Apple Arcade, iCloud, and Music included in Apple’s all-in-one bundle just for $14.95.
One of Spotify’s statement,
“Apple uses the dominant position and malpractices once again to impede rivals and divest consumers by promoting its services. We request competition authorities to act rapidly to obstruct Apple’s anti-competitive behavior, which remains unchecked, will cause long-lasting harm to the developer community, and threaten our collective freedoms to listen, create, learn and connect”.
Spotify has always been quite vocal about Apple’s App Store guidelines. The company filed a lawsuit against Apple with the European Commission last year in March. Spotify has asserted that the policies of Apple purposely impeded rivals and produced an unlevel playing ground.
Also, Apple has been criticized by Epic Games that it blocked Fortnite on iOS. Tim Sweeney, Epic’s CEO, opposed long ago Apple’s controversial 30% tax on app revenues.
Apple, however, stated that its all-in-one bundle is superb for those who want to get more at less service. The tech giant has said in its release, Apple One Individual deal offers a savings of more than $177 monthly and its Family deal offers a savings of more than $200 monthly.
According to Apple’s statement,
“Consumers can find and enjoy the options of Apple’s services. We’re presenting Apple One because it is valuable for customers and easy to access the full array of Apple’s subscription services. We’ll be recommending the Apple One deal that saves your money based on the subscriptions you already have. It’s perfect for those who love our services and want to get more for less, and it’s particularly best for families. Also, select services included in Apple One are available to enjoy on non-Apple devices, and you can annul anytime.”
