The newest smartphone support incredible speeds in both wired and wireless charging. Xiaomi is at the forefront of ultra-fast smartphone battery charging tech. The company revealed wired charging speeds of up to 100W, with rumors from over a year ago stating that the Chinese phone vendor was targeting 200W speeds as the next major upgrade – Xiaomi’s new tech. It rolled out new tech to the world for the first time last week.
Above all, Xiaomi also showed off its new 120W wireless charging technology that is faster than anything else available presently.
With Xiaomi’s new tech, the increasing battery charging speed will also eliminate low battery issues on the latest phones. Now, battery size can’t see a lot of physical capacity increases yearly. Internal space inside smartphones is always a thing of great concern as there is a lot of space is required for many important components in flagship devices.
Toping up the battery to more than 50% in just a few minutes is an amazing feature a smartphone company can provide. Faster charging is always desirable. Imagine you forget to put your handset on charging overnight but you have the option to fully recharge your phone in time less than 10 minutes – no need to get panic.

Just like with everything, this extra fast chagrining technology also has a downside. A speedy charging will impact the longevity of the battery. You will see these batteries degrading so quickly than a battery charged at much lower rates, so users might suffer a bit while replacing batteries. The only solution to this problem is that you can charge your handset at normal speeds in routine and keep the option to use a 200W charger for any emergency.
You can watch Xiaomi’s new battery charging tech in the above video, using the new Mi 11 Pro Handset. It took just 3 minutes for the 200W wired charger to reach a 50% charge. While only 8 minutes are needed to get a 100% charge. The clip also shows the latest 120W wireless charging technology in action on the same Mi 11 Pro prototype. This time, it took 7 minutes to reach a 50% charge and replenished to 100% in 15 minutes.
There are expectations for a 4000 mAh battery capacity in both cases which is a common battery size in smartphones currently. but, as the clip shows, this is a custom Mi 11 Pro build and not the same version that is available.
Thus, Xiaomi’s new tech, 200W and 120W charging speeds will work only on new devices. Maybe, those who are interested to recharge at such a fast speed will need more accessories, not provided in the box. These incredible chargers will not come at low prices.
Moreover, it is also possible to charge other devices including many laptops through USB-C.
However, it is still to be seen which devices will support the new 200W wired and 120W wireless charging speeds from Xiaomi, besides the custom Xiaomi Mi 11 Pro model shared above.
